Honestly, I don't know why this movie is generally considered bad. It's genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time.
The acting? Absolutely steller. Rik Mayall is obviously the standout, and I can't praise him in a way that hasn't already been done, but Phoebe Cates as Lizzie, a survivor of gastlighting and emotional/verbal abuse?
