Well, that was super adorable. A simple tale of a wartime romance, well told and well acted. Lots of fine performances throughout, but the focus is on Dennis Morgan and Eleanor Parker falling in love. Lots of funny, quirky little moments. If you’re in the mood for a straightforward romance in the classic style, this one is for you.
A fantastic musical I’ve seen a few times now… probably Betty Grable’s best film. There’s a whole lot of great dance numbers and the songs are terrific. Don Ameche seems unusually invested in his performance as one of Grable’s suitors… he’s always great but this is really one of his best movies.
