Old

Old ★★★★½

M night can be an incredibly hit or miss filmmaker but I’ve found of late a new breath of life in the work and this is no exception.

The film for me plays out like a glossy high end A24 film with m nights twists and turns at play, the dialogue is incredibly stilted and repetitive but not unlike Hereditary or the lighthouse where it adds a certain theatricality not really seen now a days. The acting is bizarre but consistent within the context of this being a weird a24 melodrama but no one gave a bad performance it all depends on whether you buy that style.

M night continues to showcase his truly admirable skills at crafting a visual story some of the best cinematography I’ve seen for a while. The script has some wonderful moments especially the last 30 minutes for me being some of his finest. I loved it and can’t wait for the next project!
