The Day Began Yesterday ★★★★★

Hernández is out-queering every gay filmmaker under 35 (he’s in his 40’s) by making a cute, silly, lustful romcom about a serodiscordant couple and the importance of knowing your HIV status, in which the characters fall in love, fuck like bunnies, and discuss their past STD’s, while y’all still making films about shame, guilt, and being in the closet. Get on with the program, people!

I can count the movies that have allowed HIV-positive queer characters to be horny in one hand: 120 battements par minute, Théo et Hugo dans le même bateau, and this one. And that’s a problem.
