BlacKkKlansman ★★★

This was the first Spike Lee movie I’ve seen. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy much as others did, but I did think it was well put together. I thought the performances were all incredible. It looked great. Music was great. For whatever reason though I just never hooked on.

Awesome true story, although it’s always painful to see these awful types of people existed. Even more uncomfortable to know they still do exist, which is depressingly highlighted in the controversial ending. Even though many are complaining about the end I actually thought it was appropriate to remind the viewer this paradigm that we just saw isnt anywhere close to being weeded out. I walked out pretty bummed because of it, but glad of the constant reminder of the evil that’s out there.

Also I don’t know if it’s because I’ve only recently been watching movies so much and missed it, but I think it’s awesome how many successful and critically acclaimed films have been focused on African-American characters and culture this summer and this year.

BlackkKlansman, Blindspotting, Sorry To Bother You all coming out this summer and oh yea!!! Black Panther, the number one box office movie of 2018 in the U.S. I’m only big fans of two of them, but all of them have been huge hits. Keep them coming.
