A somewhat metaphorical tale about the God Called Money and how He devoured Christian America and began His reign.
Daniel Day-Lewis is terrifyingly good in this, Paul Dano's character's meek and distant demeanour also leaves an eerie but pleasant aftertaste. They make a good tandem in this.
On the flip side, this is a very American tale, and as a non-American I could give two shits about it. Could've been at least half an hour shorter — the build-up to the last scene (despite it being very powerful and cathartic) took too long. That being said, I know that this is an adaptation of a book and the director probably wanted to stay as close to the source as possible.
