Chad Hartigan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Went to see this at the Drive In but left after 30 minutes or so for the following reasons
1. Screen was too dark to really make out details
2. Sound mix in my car was terrible
3. Somehow every line was direct exposition telling me what was happening but I still had no idea who anyone was, what they were doing with each other, where they were, how they got there, why they did anything they did.
I’m willing to give it another shot in a regular theater if they open but pretty sure it was not going to change my opinion that John David Washington has no screen presence and the fact that Nolan fanboys love to compare him to Kubrick is truly psychotic. Kubrick made movies exploring ideas. Nolan makes movies exploring ideas for movies.
