If you’ve seen Tsukamoto’s classic film Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1988) much of its look and texture can be credited to the inventiveness of Fujiwara.     Hotel Artemis

    This one really crashes the car in the final third when it has to start doing things, but the first hour or so is a nicely observed character study populated with good performances (Bautista and Foster in particular) and a solid grasp of the architecture of its space. In the end it ultimately wants to be an Assault on Precinct 13 style movie, but no one is John Carpenter, but John Carpenter, and evoking his work is always a fools errand for that reason.
