Malcolm & Marie

Malcolm & Marie ★★★½

Zendaya and John David Washington do their thing in Malcolm & Marie, a film somewhat deceptive in its way of developing conflict, since the dialogue always starts out well but vaguely deepens and barely concludes. However, Marcell Rév's cinematography and Labrinth's little musical moments are the highlights of a confinement experiment that I enjoyed despite its unearned mood shifts. Sam Levinson remains a very interesting visual storyteller.
