Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom

It’s got it’s moments and I feel kind of gross for saying this but there were quite a few times in this movie where I was saying to myself, “looks great but I’m trying my hardest to not fall asleep.” By the third time it happens I just don’t care about your shit stories anymore and watching people eat shit. It’s an awful and horrifying and probably accurate depiction of fascist Italy but there are just two many scenes here…

    Southland Tales

If you completely hate this movie I get it, but I would be lying to you if I said my mouth wasn’t wide open from practically start to finish. As soon as the dream sequence scene with Justin Timberlake ended It really started to come together for me that this movie kind of walks the line between an incompetent clusterfuck of shit and unhinged, possible way too ambitious brilliance(this movie is literally a film adaptation of the last 3 books…

  • Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone

This movie is pretty much all set ups and few pay offs so it really comes down to how the next 3 films differ from the original anime. The changes weren’t bad but they’re so brief that I don’t know how well they’ll work. The score was actually a lot better even though I love the original score and the animation touch ups were nice I guess. It’s Evangelion

  • Hereditary

That last scene might be my favorite scene ever

  • The Given Word

    The Given Word

Solid enough, there’s some great symbolism scattered throughout the film and I think by the end of its runtime the movie for the most part hits on its messages about religion. The presentation and pretty much every character aren’t very memorable but it’s got some good commentary on the holes and flaws in Catholicism and I can dig that

  • House

Is this so bad it’s amazing or just really fucking good? Maybe a little bit of both? It’s like Safdie brothers pacing but on crack. It’s like that scene in Taken 3 where Liam Neeson hops over the fence but for 90 minutes. Either way, this is one of the best comedies ever

  • Mulholland Drive

    Mulholland Drive

You know, it’s really not as confusing as I thought.
I could probably show this to my mom/10

This is the same guy who starred in The Fanatic?

  • Cinema Paradiso

    Cinema Paradiso

Not a bad movie at all but quite a bit of this felt Oscar baity I guess? Which does for sure lead to some really strong scenes with some real emotional punch but then there were also a lot of scenes I just found to be very cheesy or over the top. The comedy was another thing that didn’t really work for me, the jokes weren’t lazy it just wasn’t really my style, maybe a little too childish. The passion…

  • Eraserhead

May have a new addition to the top 10 list. None of this movie made any sense besides Henry’s struggles with fatherhood, but that’s ok, because every single scene of this movie is captivating madness. Every choice David Lynch makes in this movie down to the way people just talk is so fucking bizarre that you can’t really be anything but in awe at what your watching. How do you make this and be mentally sane, I don’t know if you can.
