Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ★★★½

"It's not 1938 anymore!"

Zack Snyder's chaotic attempt at jump starting a connected DC film universe, is a stand out among the recent barrage of "superhero" films. Snyder borrows some ideas, story lines and scenes from some of DC's most iconic works (primarily The Dark Knight Returns and The Death and Return of Superman), while realizing these classic characters into a modern post 9/11 world. This interpretation allows for some political drama and moral questions about fallen gods and aging vigilantes doling out justice in the perimeters of their own personal codes of conduct. This is a sometimes messy, but layered filmed, drenched is Snyder's signature style and steeped in DC mythos. I expect my adoration to only increase upon multiple viewings. I can not wait to revist this.
