    Mother's Day

    ★★★

I had never gotten around to checking out this thriller by Darren Lynn Bouseman before and thought actual Mother's Day was a great time to do so.

It was alot more vicious and violent than I expected it to be, which is a plus. The performances were all solid, but Jaime King and Rebecca De Morney really sold the storyline.

I do admit that I have never seen the original this one is loosely based on, but it is definitely on my list for comparison sake.

    The Crush

    ★★★

Alicia Silverstone's film debut is a paint by numbers stalker/obsession tale that is elevated by her very believable performance.

It also helps that it has Cary Elwes in it. Everything is better with Cary Elwes in it (except Black Christmas 2019; even he couldn't save that mess).

How a guy that has basically made his living directing Christmas trash for Hallmark could team up with a writer peddling his freshman script make one of the better horror movies of the year, I will never understand. Yet, here we are.

    ★★

In his sophomore effort, Chaganty disappoints with a pretty unoriginal and highly predictable psychological thriller.

It's a shame really because his debut film Searching was quite the opposite and heads above this one.
