Mordant humor building to disarming, dreadful cynicism. Difficult -- truly dark.
Pleasantly surprised by this! A moving, somewhat magical, dreamy, dark, drama about grief, acceptance, and the fine dining underworld that governs Portland. All of the (negligible amount) of violence is brief and difficult. No catharsis, just coming to terms with the inescapably of tragedy and the pointlessness of the games we play to convince ourselves that the pain of loss can be evaded.
Drove out to the suburban PA to watch this at a Regal cinema staffed entirely by teenagers…
