    Toy Story 4

am I the only one who finds this movie to be unbelievably frustrating? I get it. it's made for kids. well, at the very least, it's made to make money. it's toy story. that shit sells. but god I just cannot stand children's movies that are like this. it's like at every single turn there's some bullshit event that happens to delay the progress of the toy squad ad nauseam until the end of the fucking movie. I know forky…

  • Cars 3

    Cars 3

it's definitely better than cars 2 but that's not a very high bar to clear. I feel like this movie relies a lot on you having nostalgia for the cars franchise and even despite the fact that I do I didn't really enjoy this a lot. a lot of that comes down to cruz ramirez who is an absolutely obnoxious character. I'll be interested to see if cars continues onto a fourth movie (more likely is that the franchise is…

  • Pig

amazed at how even despite all the over the top lighting and nicolas caging that this movie manages to have some solid emotional pull. I will never not be amused when alex wolff shows up in a movie just because I was a massive naked brothers band fan. wonder if I would've rated this better had I seen it in theaters. still absolutely worth a watch.

  • Godzilla vs. Mothra

    Godzilla vs. Mothra

definitely not one of the more interesting movies in the series. the parts with mothra and godzilla actually fighting are great but it takes so much to get there. doesn't help that the only rip I could track down was an english dub, but even with the original audio this wouldn't have been anything special. still though it's a godzilla movie so it's at least a little bit fun.

  • Che: Part Two

    Che: Part Two

though not as good as the first part, it's still pretty good. I feel like I have a lot to say about these two movies but I need to let it marinate a little longer. might write in more depth in the future.

  • Hackers

actually a masterpiece. I've known about this movie for years but never watched it till now. wow I was not expecting it to be that good. everyone is pulling the hardest fits ever in this movie. this is the movie paul verhoeven never made. can't wait to be the guy that brings this up in every conversation about movies. coolest shit ever.

  • Fantastic Fungi

    Fantastic Fungi

I like the scientific stuff, even if it did hang on the psychedelic therapy stuff a little long, but the worst part about this documentary is the way it's framed. those monologues of the people speaking as the mushrooms was just unbearable. also I think there was more b roll footage of mushrooms growing than there was anything else. that's not really a bad thing though. the main dude is a character so watch it for him.

  • Che: Part One

    Che: Part One

was pretty scared that this would be awful but actually ended up enjoying it quite a bit. it does have that distinctive soderbergh polish that you expect but it's still able to be really compelling and emotional. excited for the second part!

  • Spookley and the Christmas Kittens

    Spookley and the Christmas Kittens

it's great when a franchise lays silent for over a decade but the filmmakers have such a compelling story that they have to bring it back for one more movie. this is not one of those cases.

  • Spookley the Square Pumpkin
  • Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

the best part about this one is the production design. every monster sequence was really cool. the characters are super flat and the script is whatever but for horror fans it's definitely a fun light watch. it's so obviously baiting for a sequel and I'll probably watch that when it comes out. worth seeing but it's not gonna blow your mind probably.

  • Man Push Cart

    Man Push Cart

new york is lonely, and if you've ever been there when you're broke, you know it's depressing as fuck too. this movie captures that perfectly. seeing the toys r us really added to the atmosphere of economic decay. was expecting this to be a documentary when I went into it but was pleasantly surprised. for fans of anything real.
