awesome. chantal akerman's documentary films are all so instantly likeable to me, literally just windows into the past. I'll never be able to go to the hotel monterey (there is now a days inn where the hotel from the movie was) but I'll always feel like I've been there. while it's not as deeply evocative as from the east, or as chilling and breathtaking as south, it's equally as nostalgic and maybe even more likeable. wonderful movie.
