I like movies.... a lot.
I went in expecting this to be really bad, but it actually ended up surprising me. I mean it’s still not good but it wasn’t awful. There’s a good portion of the movie that has so many beautiful landscape shots and it’s clear that they are real shots, especially when the inevitable CGI third act comes in and I was missing all the gorgeous scenery.
Also I didn’t hate the concepts or the story, it all just felt like it…
I was genuinely excited for this movie but alas, films tend to be disappointing when they aren’t about anything. The two stars are for the gorgeous visuals and that’s about it. This adaptation removes all hope from the original story and provides no answer to any of the moral questions found within.
There is no payoff to any questions. Many people will probably come away from this just debating whether Gawain lives or dies, but it doesn’t really matter because…
While A Quiet Place: Part II does not really do anything new with the material that was established in the first one, it still remains a tense thriller that excels in its storytelling, by focusing on character within every moment of the film.
