Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

I'm glad it exists, even if it is largely a retread. Tim Curry and the gang at the hotel are lots of fun and there's loads to love about the New York setting (weird pigeon lady aside).

Unfortunately though, the worst thing the film does is shoehorning the wet bandits back in, with the slapstick violence this time just being too much and for too long. Next time I watch this I'll probably skip the entire robbery scene.

3 stars though still, becasue fuck it, it's Christmas. The people who think this is better than the original are weird though.

There isn't a better cast Christmas film out there. Arnie is just perfectly camp and Sinbad almost steals the film as his rival, but if that wasn't enough it has Phil Hartman just being absolutely incredible as the sleazy neighbour.

Film itself is campy shite but it's just so much fun. The very bad last 20 minutes somehow get better and more forgivable the more you watch it, but I still can't get past the choice to have Arnie litterally…

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

This is the film people imagine Fast and Furious to be, with no real trace of what actually makes the Fast series work.

I'd be lying if I said there wasn't at least some entertainment to be had out of Rock and Jason Statham's buddy cop back and forth, but there just isn't enough there to sustain a film this long, as whilst the first 45 minutes work, the film really struggles after that, especially when it feels like we're…

The original and maybe best. Just a tight brilliantly told story in 100 minutes.

Yes it's Point Break with cars, but the chemistry and strength of the characters carry it to being something else. Vin Diesel will never do work as good as the moment he finds out Brian is a cop and everything that comes after it. Any interaction between him and Brian is gold but forgot how good the scenes are with him and Letty and even Brian…
