A beautiful portrayal of family and loss that is so well crafted. Although it was an emotional film it didn’t quite hit me like I was expecting which was frustrating. This was an incredible film it just didn’t strike my personal chords which I can see changing on a rewatch. My first Ozu and I can already sense his style and greatness. A great way to hit 800 films! 8.4/10
never has a film brought me into a world and immersed me into it quite like this one has. so stylized and so distinct to this time period. it fully captures the atmosphere of this industry whether that’s through the performances, cinematography or camera work. it quite literally hits every nail on the head.
this is also my second Don Cheadle movie for the night 🤔
Yi Yi has been shifting around my top ten for a while now. I kept telling myself that I needed to rewatch it but never did. After rewatching I can confidently say that this is my favorite film of all time...
Yi Yi represents everything I love about movies. Everything I love about watching them and everything that I want to make in the future(🤞). But movies aside, I love this film because it represents life. It follows normal people…
