Raining Stones

Raining Stones

This seems to be the popular favorite of Ken Loach's movies; I can see why. It's lighthearted in a way that few of his others are, and the sermonizing is kept to a minimum. Loach's "grimy realism" (to borrow a J.R. Jones-ism) feels a little thick when applied to workaday comedy, but the liveliness of the performances shines through.
