I found this to be a superior experimental documentary, with beautiful imagery, textures, and ideas. I should probably give it a second viewing before I attempt to write anything more thoughtful than that; Kaori Oda gives the spectator so much to take in that I spent most of my first viewing just trying to orient myself.

One thing I did notice is how Oda transitions gradually from his outside perspective on Mexican culture to an inside one. It's a bit like sliding down a cenote to find the Mayan traditions sitting beneath contemporary Mexican culture.
