How would you feel if a fifty-year-old man called and said he was your six-year-old nephew?
I was really looking forward to this. Despite the negative reviews, Old's trailer, premise, and Shyamalan had me hooked. Sadly, this has just about every bad Shyamalan cliché, with an awful twist that doesn't fit the movie. The interesting story doesn't feel well developed, and the so-called thriller aspects come off more laughable. The bad acting and bland characters aren't too much of a surprise, but they still don't make it better. And sadly, unlike The Happening or After Earth, I can't say this is a so-bad-it's-good watch, because it's not. It's Shyamalan at his absolute worst: a boring movie that squanders any opportunity of being something of worth.
