Honestly one of the most relatable depictions of mental illness I've seen in a movie. There's so much in here that really expresses how I experience depression and anxiety.

The sense of detachment, then those bursts where you just don't want to, can't, be alone. (When she goes to that diner with her neighbour). How you are followed by fear (here taking the form of the undead man). Those periods where you feel you're not part of the world and/or…

Flying to Melbourne to see this at MIFF on my birthday was the best idea I’ve had at least all year. What better gift could I give myself than the sight of Armie Hammer in billowy shirts and short shorts, cycling around the Italian countryside? Except, perhaps, Armie Hammer dancing to Psychedelic Furs – I never knew that was something I needed to see, but, oh, how I needed to!

In all seriousness (well, I am serious about Armie in…

Look, my life is a nightmare, right now*—for once I'm not being a drama queen—and this made me smile, so I don't really care about anything else. Would likely have rated it higher, but a mixture of depression induced apathy and some parts that really were a bit 'eh' led me here.

*Hence the lack of presence around here at the moment and the total lack of coherence in this 'review'

Kicked off my pride month watches with this jolly romp! Going in, I was like, 'Now, Andrea, are you sure you want to watch this, right now, considering the subject matter and what's going on in your own life?' But I forged ahead and watched it anyway, knowing what I was getting myself into.

And it's good! It's really good. It's beautifully acted and filmed, but it was just too much for my current emotional state. Maybe one day I'll…

It's always refreshing to see more realistic depictions of friendship between girls in movies. And the best scenes in this film were of the girls just having fun and hanging out, like when they were dancing together or singing loudly on a joyride. Any film where girls band together to protect each other will always make me happy. Quite touching.
