favorite films are the last four movies that I rated five stars, to mix it up
Loved the deeply internal logic of the first half, still turning over the disappointment that set in during the second. It reminded me of the more meandering parts of Twin Peaks: The Return, with a vague undercurrent of menace but to what end? Maybe there's something here about no one preparing you for what comes after the rituals and rites of passage of adolescence, that Taormina has chosen to evoke with a sense of emptiness. In any case, it's a unique take on suburban ennui (a feat in and of itself) and one that makes me excited to see where Taormina and his collaborators go next.
