Really wonderful. Just goes to proves that a well trodden Groundhog Day-like narrative conceit can still work gloriously if the material is strong enough.
The first two acts of Black Widow are fairly enjoyable but the third just descends into a contrived CG mess with the stakes ebbing anyway with each credibility-straining second. It’s so obvious the parts of the film director Cate Shortland is actually steering (ie: the good bits) and those which are out of her hands.
Also, when your two secondary characters are more interesting and intriguing than your eponymous lead (and brought to sparkling, vivid life by both Florence Pugh and David Harbour), there’s an issue from the get-go.
A less-than-auspicious start to Phase Four for Marvel.
