Truly a film I'm not going to stop thinking about. I'm just drawn to how it does such an amazing job contrasting the bright poppy colors and its streaks of happiness with just some of the darkest aspects of our lived reality. There is no one singular female experience, but that contrast really speaks to so many lived experiences. Underneath all of this really is a film that makes us all confront the pervasiveness of sexual assault and how our very institutions and cultural mores work to uphold it.
