Saw this last night at the Cameo in Edinburgh such a good experience, wrote about the film for my major project which got me my degree. Going to include that peice as the review even though it includes more than just Yojimbo. But I'm very proud of the price as it dissects stories across cultures and similarities in narratives.

    Introduction
Narratives have been told in many forms; from books, films, music, our perspective of the world revolves around the many…

I don't always like or feel comfortable reviewing a film through a personal lens. Something feels narcissistic or manipulate about it but I don't know any other way of reviewing Evangelion without doing so.

I found Evangelion at a dark time, the pandemic was 7 months in, and my childhood friend and flatmate had committed suicide, during this difficult period I used games and films to keep myself going. I had attempted to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion before, but now…

I didn't really follow the narrative because I was just absorbed into the atmosphere of the film.

I thought I would sit on the film and think of something to write about it but I just can't think of anything to say. I don't think it's as strong as woman in the Dunes which had a more engaging narrative and exploration of its themes. Although visually this film has striking and symbolic imagery throughout. I'm just not entirely sure what this film was trying to say exactly.

My first film of the year and first entery in my attempt at the letterboxd Japanuary challenge 2022.

Funeral Parade of roses is an Avant Garde film that borrows styles from European cinema. It focuses on Eddie a trans woman. Although I found myself confused and feeling a failure to grasp the entirety of the film on a first watch this didn't concern me unlike other films as the slathering of editing and camera work the film provided was more…

    Filled me with joy.

A beautiful film all about life, art in all its many forms and it's connection to love and overcoming your fears and embrace your feelings.

I'm officially a Maasaki Yuasa fan.
