    From Beyond

From Beyond is an absolute blast. A Lovecraft jam through the lens of Stuart Gordon that has more gross shit and unsettling images than you can shake a Resonator at.

Oh and the cast contains 3 of my favorite horror icons in Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, and Ken Foree. Seriously, I’d watch that combo in anything, and I wish there were 10 more movies with them, but I’ll happily just take this neon colored nightmare.

I really need to revisit this one more often.

    The Addiction

“It makes no difference what I do, whether I draw blood or not. It’s the violence of my will against theirs.”

So, I couldn’t let 2020 end without logging my favorite discovery of the year. I actually watched The Addiction a few months ago but just never logged it because I was trying to write this whole, lengthy, in depth review and never did. So now, I’ll just say this about it: I can’t remember the last time a movie…

“Aha! You didn’t count on my loyal army of prostitutes, did you?”

RIP Norm MacDonald. Truly one of a kind.

    Holy shit.

My jaw is on the floor right now.

I wish I had some well written, clever, review to put out there, but yeah, right now I’m just kind of stunned at how bold and bonkers this movie is.

  • Host

A demon infests a seance via Zoom call and chaos ensues. Host is just a super fun scare fest that is totally of the moment we live in. Definitely lived up to the hype I’d been seeing. At 56 minutes, it’s the perfect length for the story they’re telling and has no fat on it.

Also, the last scare got me so good I spilled a glass of water all over myself, haha.

  • Zodiac

Alright, now that I’ve watched it, I feel legitimately stupid for sleeping on this as long as I did.

Zodiac is a damn masterpiece and feels like Fincher had absolute control and understanding of the material and what he was doing. Made with the utmost confidence and feels like a person working at the top of their game. The cast is absolutely perfect, from the 3 main stars all the way down, and they all play their parts brilliantly.
